China announces winners of top historiography award

BEIJING, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- A total of 42 works of historical research have been awarded at the fifth Guo Moruo Chinese History Awards, China's most authoritative prize for historiography, on Wednesday.

The winners were selected from historical research by Chinese scholars published from 2011 to 2017, covering various genres including dynastic history, archeology and paleoanthropology.

A serial research on Tsinghua University's collection of bamboo slips from the Warring States Period (475 B.C.-221 B.C.) won the first prize.

Named in honor of Guo Moruo, a renowned contemporary Chinese writer and historian, the award was established in 1998. A total of 147 works of historical research have been awarded to date. Enditem
