BEIJING, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Major Chinese stock indices closed lower Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.25 percent, at 2,903.64 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.35 percent lower at 9,774.44 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 361.03 billion yuan (about 51.42 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 425.94 billion yuan in the previous trading day.
Most stocks fell, with losers outnumbering gainers by 773 to 606 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,058 to 994 in Shenzhen.
Companies in military industry mostly gained, with stocks of Bestway Marine & Energy Technology Co.,Ltd. surging by the daily 10-percent limit to 3.04 yuan per share.
Shares related to farming and intelligent speakers led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.38 percent to close at 1,713.2 points Thursday. Enditem
