1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close lower Friday

BEIJING, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Major Chinese stock indices ended lower Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.63 percent, at 2,885.29 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.51 percent lower at 9,626.90 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 471.05 billion yuan (about 67 billion U.S. dollars), expanding from 361.03 billion yuan in the previous trading day.

Most stocks fell, with losers outnumbering gainers by 951 to 424 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,544 to 532 in Shenzhen.

Companies in the sectors of steel, media convergence and mining service saw robust growth in share prices, with shares of SGIS Songshan Co.,Ltd. rising 8.14 percent to close at 4.25 yuan per share.

Shares in the industries of medical equipment, wireless headset and digital currency led the losses.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.95 percent to close at 1,679.80 points Friday. Enditem
