BEIJING, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

SPACE-BASED SOLAR POWER STATION

China plans to accomplish a 200-tonne megawatt-level space-based solar power station by 2035, according to the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST).

The space-based solar power station would capture the sun's energy that never makes it to the planet, said Wang Li, a CAST research fellow with the program, when attending the sixth China-Russia Engineering Forum held last week in Xiamen, southeast China's Fujian Province.

BLOCKCHAIN-BASED SERVICE NETWORK

Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province, on Sunday piloted the Blockchain-based Service Network (BSN) on the AI-powered City Brain platform for the city's Xiacheng District, in a bid to improve its e-government services.

Co-launched by the State Information Center, China Unionpay and China Mobile, the BSN is a nationwide infrastructure platform of blockchain-based service that crosses the public network, as well as multiple regions and organizations.

RARE EARTH LUMINESCENT MATERIALS

China's output of rare earth luminescent materials registered steady growth in the first 10 months of the year, industrial data showed.

From January to October, the output of LED phosphor rose 24.5 percent year on year to 415 tonnes, said the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

During the same period, the output of long afterglow phosphor surged 94 percent year on year to 485 tonnes, the ministry said, citing data from the Association of China Rare Earth Industry. Enditem
