Muscat hosts 40th Orthopedic World Congress

MUSCAT, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- The 40th Orthopedic World Congress kicked off on Thursday in Omani capital Muscat, which was organized by the Pan-Arab Orthopedic Association (PAOA).

"The three-day event, sponsored by the Omani Health Ministry and supported and promoted by the Tourism Ministry, saw 350 international orthopedic doctors and professors and will be attended by 3000 specialists from 130 countries," according to a Health Ministry statement.

Mohamed Darwish, PAOA president, said convening this congress in Muscat is the outcome of years of efforts and is considered as recognition of Oman's scientific status in the field of bone surgeries.

The global academic meeting is witnessing three plenary lectures from famous surgeons and will provide an opportunity for young orthopedic surgeons to take advantage of the wealth of knowledge in the form of workshops, symposia and free paper sessions on recent advancements in the field. Enditem
