BEIJING, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- The following are the highlights of China's key education news from the past week:

-- China makes headway in vocational education

Advanced vocational schools in China have seen improved conditions, with growing access to teaching apparatuses, digital resources and wireless networks, according to an evaluation report published on the Ministry of Education's (MOE) website.

In 2017, advanced vocational schools across the country enrolled nearly 3.51 million new students, an increase of 75,000 from the previous year, said the report, adding that the total number of students studying at these schools reached 11.05 million, up 221,000 year on year.

-- China strengthens education on Constitution for students

More than 20 million Chinese students read parts of the Constitution simultaneously via the Internet on Wednesday as China marked its sixth national Constitution Day.

This activity was part of the MOE's efforts to strengthen education about the country's Constitution among students.

The ministry has worked with the Ministry of Justice to release a syllabus on legal education and added legal content, especially on the Constitution, into the current courses for students from primary schools to higher education.

-- Draft revision calls for international exchanges, cooperations on vocational education

The MOE has started soliciting public opinions on a draft revision to the vocational education law, calling for more international communication and cooperation in the vocational education industry.

The draft also encourages Chinese vocational education organizations to run schools abroad and advocates mutual recognition of vocational education qualifications. Enditem
