1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close higher Tuesday

BEIJING, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.1 percent at 2,917.32 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.4 percent higher at 9,915.87 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 466.6 billion yuan (66.28 billion U.S. dollars), expanding from 460.84 billion yuan in the previous trading day.

Winners outnumbered losers by 676 to 671 on the Shanghai bourse and by 1,186 to 830 on the Shenzhen bourse.

Semiconductor companies led the gains, with shares of TongFu Microelectronics Co., Ltd surging by the daily limit of 10 percent to end the day at 15.8 yuan.

Shares related to pork lost, with that of Muyuan Foods Co., Ltd. down 5.3 percent to 84 yuan.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.75 percent to close at 1,734.02 points. Enditem
