BAGHDAD -- Thousands of mourners on Saturday participated in a funeral of Qasem Soleimani, a senior Iranian commander, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy chief of Iraq's paramilitary Hashd Shaabi forces, who were killed in an U.S. airstrike in Iraq's capital Baghdad.
The procession of military vehicles carrying the coffins were surrounded by thousands of mourners chanting anti-U.S. slogans in the holy Shiite district of Kadhmiyah in northern Baghdad. (Iraq-Iran-U.S.)

DAMASCUS -- The Syrian army on Saturday targeted rebel-held positions in the countryside of the northwestern province of Idlib and the northern province of Aleppo, state news agency SANA reported.
The army carried out intensive artillery shelling on the rebels' positions in the Maarat al-Numan and Saraqeb areas of Idlib Province, killing many rebels and destroying their weaponry, SANA said. (Syria-Rebels-Attacks)

BEIRUT -- The Lebanese government received its first shipment of gasoline on Saturday as the government hopes to become a key player in the oil supply in Lebanon, the National News Agency reported.

TRIPOLI -- Libya's east-based House of Representatives on Saturday voted to cut ties with Turkey after Turkish approval of sending troops to Libya to support the UN-backed government.
