1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close higher Tuesday

BEIJING, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.69 percent, at 3,104.8 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.22 percent higher at 10,829.05 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 732.33 billion yuan (about 105.08 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 804.06 billion yuan in the previous trading day.

Most stocks rose, with gainers outnumbering losers by 1,190 to 261 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,740 to 400 in Shenzhen.

Companies in the sectors of cloud games, coal and pork saw robust growth in share prices, with shares of Kaiser (China) Culture Co., Ltd. rising by the daily 10-percent limit to 6.68 yuan per share.

Shares in the industries of gold and non-ferrous metals led the losses.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.79 percent to close at 1,893.21 points Tuesday. Enditem
