BEIJING, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

OPTICAL MEASUREMENT TECHNOLOGY

Chinese researchers have developed a new measuring method for aircraft working in extremely high temperatures, according to its developer.

Developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, the optical measurement technology could help monitor the structural deformation of aircraft working in temperatures between 800 and 1,300 degrees Celsius, marking a major breakthrough in China's ability to measure aircraft conditions in extreme environments.

COSMIC RAY OBSERVATORY

A giant observatory to search for the origin of cosmic rays in southwest China's Sichuan Province was half completed and thousands of its detectors have been put into operation, said the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

The project, known as the Large High-Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO), is located 4.41 km above sea level on Haizi Mountain in Sichuan. Since April 2019, it has launched over two thousand detectors that will probe cosmic rays and provide statistics for scientists to analyze.

HIGH-QUALITY IP DEVELOPMENT

China has made a series of achievements over the past year to create a friendly environment for business, innovation and high-quality intellectual property development, said Shen Changyu, director of the National Intellectual Property Administration (NIPA).

In 2019, China had 13.3 invention patents per 10,000 people. The total number of effective registered trademarks exceeded 25 million, with every 4.9 market entities owning one registered trademark on average.

The country's patent examination has become more efficient. The period for high-value patents examination has been reduced to 17.3 months and the average time for trademark registration is 4.5 months, according to NIPA. Enditem
