1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares end lower Friday

BEIJING, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Major Chinese stock indices ended lower Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.08 percent at 3,092.29 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.17 percent lower at 10,879.84 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 640.16 billion yuan (about 92.31 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 706.62 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Losers outnumbered gainers by 916 to 501 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,366 to 751 in Shenzhen.

Sectors of liquor and cement led the gains, with shares of Jinhui Liquor Co., Ltd. surging by the daily limit of 10 percent to 19.26 yuan apiece.

Companies related to oil service and Tesla led the losses.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.47 percent to close at 1,904.19 points. Enditem
