GUANGZHOU, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- The following are shows and exhibitions available in Guangzhou in the coming week:

Rembrandt to Monet: 500 years of European Painting

Date: until May 5

Venue: Guangdong Museum

Introduction:

This exhibition is an international tour of the outstanding European master paintings introduced from the Indianapolis Museum of Art and the Clovis Collection in the United States. The 60 carefully selected works show the general situation of southern Italy, the Netherlands and Britain during the 14th to 19th century with their extraordinary painting skills and artistic value. The exhibits include works of well-recognized European masters such as Rembrandt van Rijn, Claude Monet, Tiziano Vecelli, Peter Paul Rubens and Paul Gauguin.

Drama: Lin Zexu

Date: Jan. 15-16

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Venue: Opera Hall, Guangzhou Opera House

Introduction:

Co-produced by the National Centre for the Performing Arts and the Guangzhou Drama Art Center, "Lin Zexu" is one of the cultural masterpieces in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The drama introduced the great anti-opium hero by focusing on the conflicts between him and political figures during his era, thus to characterize his patriotism and pioneering spirit.

Beethoven Piano Sonata by Chen Pi-hsien

Date: Jan. 18

Time: 8:00 p.m.

Venue: Xinghai Concert Hall

Introduction:

To commemorate the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth, Xinghai Concert Hall is going to hold a series of musical activities. This concert will be performed by classical pianist Chen Pi-hsien, who will play Beethoven's famous sonatas. Enditem
