BEIJING, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Major Chinese stock indices ended mixed Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.05 percent, at 3,075.5 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.12 percent lower at 10,954.39 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 607.42 billion yuan (about 88.19 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 612.8 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Losers outnumbered gainers by 919 to 486 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,401 to 669 in Shenzhen.

Stocks related to the communication services and pipeline transportation led the gains, with shares of Xinhua Net Co., Ltd. climbing by 9.997 percent to 33.34 yuan per share.

Shares in the power, water and gas supply sector led the losses.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.13 percent to close at 1,932.51 points Friday. Enditem
