BEIJING, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Six performances featuring Chinese folk culture will be staged at the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing during the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday from Jan. 25 to 30, according to a recent press conference.

The performances will cover Peking Opera, crosstalk and Chinese folk music, and renowned artists will perform classic works, including "The Orphan of Zhao," a 13th-century drama revolving around the central theme of revenge, and "Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy," a piece of modern Peking Opera on the liberation war.

Traditional and original works of Chinese crosstalk will be presented by well-known performers including Li Weijian and Wu Bin at a crosstalk contest and evening parties held from Jan. 29 to 30.

Visitors can also experience folk culture through festive activities like Peking Opera face painting, paper-cutting and making dough figurines at the Forbidden City Concert Hall. Enditem
