BEIJING, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- The following are highlights of China's local business news from the past week.

BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT

Beijing remained number one among Chinese cities in terms of business environment in 2019, as the city rolled out two new versions of reforms to improve the business climate, said Mayor Chen Jining.

The national capital city has made outstanding contributions to advancing China's place in the World Bank's ranking for ease of doing business, he said, noting that the burden on businesses was reduced by 180 billion yuan (about 26 billion U.S. dollars) in total last year.

PRIVATE ECONOMY

East China's Zhejiang Province plans to unveil a regulation to further promote the vigorous development of the private economy.

A draft was released Sunday at the provincial people's congress.

RUSSIAN PORT

Hunchun, a border city in northeast China's Jilin Province, will upgrade existing highway that leads to Russia's Zarubino Port in 2020, the provincial government said.

Hunchun is home to four national-level rail and road ports, and only 71 km away from Zarubino Port.

NEVs

Authorities will add an additional 100,000 charging piles to meet the power demand of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in 2020 in the city of Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province.

Wuhan currently has 68,500 NEVs on the road and 142,000 charging piles already supplying electric power for the vehicles, according to the city government report.

CONTAINER PORT

Shanghai port maintained the top position in the world in terms of container throughput in 2019, according to Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong Wednesday.

The container throughput of Shanghai port totaled 43.3 million twenty-foot equivalent units last year, ranking the first in the world for 10 consecutive years.

WHOLLY FOREIGN-OWNED INSURANCE HOLDING COMPANY

China's first wholly foreign-owned insurance holding company, Allianz China Holding, opened in Shanghai Thursday.

The insurance company, fully owned by Allianz Group, has 2.72 billion yuan in registered capital. Enditem
