Sun Minghui leads Zhejiang to 95-90 win over Beijing in CBA

HANGZHOU, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Guard Sun Minghui scored a game-high 27 points to help the Zhejiang Lions beat the Beijing Royal Fighters 95-90 at home in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Sunday.

After Sun Minghui scored four consecutive points for Zhejiang to tie it 81-all, the hosts stormed to a 14-6 run to take the lead with 95-87, leaving the visitors unable to respond.

Sun Minghui also had six assists, while Dezmine Wells contributed 25 points and 12 rebounds, center Hu Jinqiu added 23 points and nine assists.

"Our players played very well on defense, especially in the second and third quarters. There were still lots of problems in the match and we needed to find it and fix it," Zhejiang head coach Li Chunjiang said.

Kyle Fogg led Beijing with 27 points, Sani Sakakini made a double-double with 17 points and 17 rebounds.

"It was a tough game, we failed to make shots in critical moments," Beijing head coach Stephon Marbury said after the game.

Zhejiang opened the game with a 12-5 run and led 27-20 into the second quarter.

The hosts once had the biggest advantage of 41-22 before Beijing rallied from behind for a 23-6 run to cut the deficits to two at halftime.

Beijing failed to take advantage of three international players on the court to turn over the table in the third quarter and Zhejiang led 75-64 into the last period.

Beijing drop to eighth place following the match, while Zhejiang remain in ninth place. Enditem
