JERUSALEM -- Chief of Israel's internal security agency said on Monday that "hundreds of terror attacks" have been thwarted in Israel during 2019.

In a rare public remark, Nadav Argaman, head of the Shin Bet security service, said that his agency foiled over 560 terror attacks, including ten suicide attacks, four kidnapping attacks, and over 300 shooting attacks. (Israel-Terror)

BAGHDAD -- Three demonstrators were killed and dozens of protesters and security members were wounded in Baghdad and other cities on Monday, as anti-government protests flared over corruption, lack of jobs and public services, an Interior Ministry official said.

"The latest reports about casualties in Baghdad during the day showed that three demonstrators, including the civil society activist Yousif Sattar, were killed and up to 54 demonstrators were wounded and suffocated," the official told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. (Iraq-Protests)

ADEN, Yemen -- At least two Yemeni soldiers were killed on Monday in an armed ambush that targeted a military convoy in Yemen's southeastern province of Hadramout, a security official told Xinhua.

The local security said on condition of anonymity that "a convoy of the pro-government forces was ambushed by unknown gunmen while it was passing through Shibam district of Hadramout, leaving two soldiers killed." (Yemen-Ambush)

TEHRAN -- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Monday that the Islamic republic will leave the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in case the nuclear case of the country is sent to the UN Security Council.

"If the Europeans continue their unjustifiable behavior or send Iran's nuclear dossier to the UN Security Council, Iran will leave the NPT," Zarif was quoted as saying by official IRNA news agency. (Iran-Nuke-NPT) Enditem
