BEIJING, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.72 percent to 2,866.51 point.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.87 percent higher at 10,601.34 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 913.5 billion yuan (about 130.5 billion U.S. dollars), expanding from 872.3 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Gainers outweighed losers by 1,345 to 112 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,989 to 152 in Shenzhen.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 3.74 percent to close at 2,012.25 points Thursday.

Shares in disinfectant, masks and cloud gaming sectors led the gains, with the shares of Shandong Taihe Water Treatment Technologies Co., Ltd. surging by the daily limit of 10 percent.

Investors are also taking a shine to agricultural company stocks, as China's central authorities released on Wednesday this year's "No. 1 central document", an indicator of policy priorities, focusing on agriculture, rural areas and farmers' issues for the 17th consecutive year. Enditem
