NINGBO, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- The China Ningbo Containerized Freight Index (NCFI) reported a sharp drop in freight index in the route to Australia and New Zealand.

The NCFI, reflecting freight rate changes of 21 routes departing from the Ningbo-Zhoushan port, stood at 901.7 points Friday, down 3.9 percent compared with last week.

The sub-index for the routes to Australia and New Zealand stood at 1,405.7 points, felling dramatically by 10.6 percent from last week.

According to the Ningbo Shipping Exchange, facing the traditional off-season market after the holiday, liner companies have adjusted their pricing strategies in order to strengthen their ability to acquire goods in the future.

Reported every Friday (except Chinese holidays), the NCFI was first published in September 2013. Enditem
