NINGBO, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- The China Ningbo Containerized Freight Index (NCFI) reported a significant drop in freight indices in the U.S. routes.

The NCFI, reflecting freight rate changes of 21 routes departing from the Ningbo-Zhoushan port, stood at 827 points Friday, down 8.3 percent compared with last week.

The sub-reading for the east and west coast of the United States quoted 955.2 points and 850.5 points, down 4.8 percent and 6.6 percent from last week respectively.

According to the Ningbo Shipping Exchange, in light of the insufficient cargos and the expectation that only a few cargos will come out at the end of the month, most liner companies have lowered down the freight rates.

Reported every Friday (except Chinese holidays), the NCFI was first published in September 2013. Enditem
