BEIJING, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- China's border authorities busted more than 3,000 criminal cases and dealt with more than 2,100 cases concerning the crime of disrupting border regulations in 2019, according to a working conference on border regulation Saturday.

A total of 33,000 public security-related cases were dealt with last year, according to the conference.

The number of seized fugitives, captured guns and drugs increased by 76 percent, 126 percent and 15.6 percent year on year, respectively, it said.

The National Immigration Administration also saw the number of inbound and outbound trips and the number of issued travel documents increasing, adding that it had seen about 670 million entries and exits made in 2019, up 3.8 percent year on year.

In 2019, the country issued about 134 million entry and exits permits and saved about 37 billion yuan (about 5.6 billion U.S. dollars) for the public and enterprises as it implemented a new policy that enables people to apply for passports at any immigration administration outlets across the country.

The country's 144-hour visa-free transit policy had also benefited over 960,000 foreign visitors, said the conference. Enditem
