BEIJING, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

DRUGS IN CLINICAL TRIALS

Several antiviral drugs have been applied in clinical trials against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), and some have shown fairly good clinical efficacy, according to an official Saturday.

Chinese researchers have narrowed down their focus to a few existing drugs, including Chloroquine Phosphate, Favipiravir and Remdesivir, after multiple rounds of screening, said Zhang Xinmin, director of the China National Center for Biotechnology Development under the Ministry of Science and Technology, at a press conference on the new virus.

VACCINE DEVELOPMENT

To speed up the development of a vaccine and increase the success rate, China is developing multiple candidate vaccines at the same time, including an inactivated vaccine, mRNA vaccine, DNA vaccine, recombinant protein vaccine and virus vector vaccine, Zhang said at the same press conference Saturday.

AUTOPSY ON COVID-19 PATIENTS' BODIES

Autopsy on the bodies of two patients who died from the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were finished Sunday in Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital.

The autopsy results have been sent for further examination for researchers to study the pathology of COVID-19 so as to understand the pathogenicity and lethality of the disease and better treat patients in critical or severe condition.

BEIDOU SATELLITES

Four satellites of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) have recently passed tests in orbit and started operation in the network, according to China's Satellite Navigation System Management Office.
