AMMAN -- Jordan's agriculture ministry on Tuesday said alert was raised from medium to high as part of measures to control invading locusts, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
Agriculture Minister Ibrahim Shahahdeh said the measure was taken after follow-ups showed that swarms of desert locusts had reached some parts of Saudi Arabia, mainly Hail, 500 km from Saudi-Jordanian borders. (Jordan-Locusts)

TRIPOLI -- The east-based army of Libya on Tuesday announced the destruction of a Turkish ship carrying weapons off Tripoli's coast.
"The Turkish ship loaded with weapons and ammunition, which arrived in Tripoli port this morning, has been destroyed," the east-based army's information office said. (Libya-Turkey-Ship)

BEIRUT -- Credit rating agency Fitch said Tuesday that Lebanon's situation indicates that the country would restructure its debt, local TV channel LBCI reported.

JERUSALEM -- Chinese electronics company Xiaomi has begun selling smart TVs in Israel, Hemilton Group, an Israeli import company, said Tuesday.
