CHENGDU, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- A new flight was launched Thursday linking Beijing and the city of Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, and Cairo in Egypt.

The air route, operated by Sichuan Airlines, will fly on every Thursday. The outbound flight will take off at 8:35 p.m. Beijing time and arrive in Chengdu at 11:55 p.m. It will depart at 2:20 a.m. the next day and land in Cairo at 7:15 a.m. local time.

The returning flight will depart at 8:15 p.m. local time on Friday and land in Chengdu at 12:15 a.m. the next day and Beijing at 7:20 p.m. local time.

Since southwestern China has maintained close international exchanges in recent years, Sichuan Airlines plans to resume more international flights, linking Chengdu with Bangkok, Hong Kong and Taipei.
