Last COVID-19 patient cured in north China province

TAIYUAN, March 13 (Xinhua) -- The last patient infected with COVID-19 in north China's Shanxi Province was discharged from hospital on Friday, bringing existing confirmed cases to zero in the province.

The patient, a woman surnamed Li, was discharged from the infectious disease hospital of Jinzhong city after recovery.

The province had reported a total of 133 confirmed cases. Traditional Chinese medicine was widely used in the treatment of patients, according to Zhang Bo, deputy head of the provincial health commission.

No patients have died and no medical staff have been infected in the province, according to Zhang.

Shanxi has not reported any new confirmed cases for 17 consecutive days, he said.

The province has downgraded its emergency response toward the novel coronavirus outbreak from level two to level three. Enditem
