MANILA -- The Philippines will shut down all airports in the main Luzon Island starting on Friday in an effort to slow the spread of the COVID-19, the Department of Transportation said on Tuesday.

Outbound passengers are given 72 hours to fly out of Luzon, including Metro Manila, after the government imposed the enhanced community quarantine starting midnight on Tuesday.(Philippines-Lockdown)

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's Ministry of Health announced in a press statement on Tuesday that 12 more local people were tested positive for the COVID-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the kingdom to 24.

The new patients included 11 Cambodians, who had returned to Cambodia after attending a mass Islamic religious ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and a Cambodian man who just returned to the country from Thailand, the statement said.(Cambodia-COVID-19-New cases)

SEOUL -- South Korea said Tuesday that it will expand tighter immigration procedures to people from all countries around the world to help prevent the imported cases of the COVID-19.

Vice Health Minister Kim Kang-lip told a press briefing that the tightened immigration procedures will be imposed on both South Korean and foreign nationals arriving from all countries beginning midnight Thursday local time.(SKorea-COVID-19-Measures)

WELLINGTON -- The New Zealand government on Tuesday launched "the most significant peace-time economic plan in modern New Zealand history" to cushion the impact of the COVID-19 to support Kiwis' jobs and the domestic economy from the virus.

The 12.1 billion NZ dollar (7.36 billion U.S. dollars) package is worth 4 percent of GDP, a larger plan than that was implemented in response to the Global Financial Crisis and comparatively larger than the relief packages announced to date in Australia, Britain and the United States.

HONG KONG -- China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Chief Executive Carrie Lam said Tuesday that Hong Kong will quarantine for 14 days all arriving passengers from outside the region starting from Thursday to curb the spread of the COVID-19.
