BEIJING, March 21 (Xinhua) -- China's electricity consumption, a key barometer of economic activity, dropped 10.1 percent year on year in February, official data showed.
Total power use hit 439.8 billion kilowatt hours last month. Power use by the secondary industry decreased by 14.6 percent, and that by the tertiary industry 10 percent, according to the National Energy Administration.
Power use in the first two months totaled 1.02 trillion kilowatt hours, down 7.8 percent year on year.
Both power generation and consumption have posted fast recovery in March, when work resumption picks up pace as the coronavirus epidemic wanes. Enditem
