BEIJING, March 22 (Xinhua) -- China's coastal bulk freight market has seen slight growth in general demand in the week ending Friday, according to the Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE).
The composite index for coastal bulk freight slightly edged up to 901.34, the SSE said.
The coal sub-index climbed by 0.3 percent to 875.59.
The sub-index for metal ore decreased by 0.1 percent to 943.89, and that for grain shrank by 2.2 percent to 595.92.
The SSE initiated the index in 2001 under the guidance of the Ministry of Transport to reflect the fluctuations of the Chinese coastal transport market. Enditem
