SHANGHAI, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Construction has resumed at the Shanghai Juss International Equestrian Center after having been suspended during the coronavirus epidemic, local authorities announced on Saturday.

Located at the Expo Park in the city's Pudong district, the center will become China's first permanent equestrian venue to qualify for top-class international events. Scheduled to be completed by April 2022, the facility will be used to host the annual Global Champions Tour (GCT) show jumping event.

With a total investment of around 1.25 billion yuan (179 million U.S. dollars), the center will have a total area of 33,200 square meters, and a 90-meter-by-60-meter competition arena, with 5,000 seats for spectators. Training and practise spaces as well as high-standard stables will also be contained in the center.

The five-star Shanghai Longines Global Champions Tour has been held in the city for the last six years, and will be held in the city until at least 2022. Enditem
