TAIPEI, March 29 (Xinhua) -- The total number of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Taiwan has increased by 15 to 298, the island's epidemic monitoring agency said Sunday.

Fourteen of the new patients, nine men and five women, were believed to have contracted the virus during trips overseas, including trips to the United States, Britain, Spain, Turkey and the Philippines, the agency said in a press release.

One of the 14 patients, a man who had been to Spain from March 7 to 16, was believed to have infected his wife who did not travel with him, the statement said.

Among the island's confirmed COVID-19 cases, 255 were imported. Thirty-nine of the confirmed patients have recovered, and two died of the disease. The rest are in stable condition. Enditem
