Shanghai reports 11 new imported COVID-19 cases

SHANGHAI, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai reported 11 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) from overseas on Monday, the municipal health commission said Tuesday.

Six patients were from Britain, three from France, one from the United States and the other one from Brazil, the commission said. The new reports have brought the total number of imported cases in Shanghai to 170.

The patients have been sent to designated hospitals for treatment. A total of 62 close contacts on flights have been put under medical observation.

Among the 170 cases, 11 have been discharged from hospitals, and 159 remain hospitalized. Two of them are still in severe condition and one in critical condition, the commission said.

Additionally, 21 suspected cases from overseas are waiting for confirmation.

The municipality reported no new locally transmitted cases on Monday. The city's total confirmed local cases remained at 339. As of Monday, 327 of the patients have been discharged from hospitals after recovery, five had died, and seven are still in hospitals receiving treatment. Enditem
