SHANGHAI, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Hydrogen-powered shuttle buses will transfer passengers at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Pudong International Airport, showing the city's support for green transportation.

According to the latest strategic cooperation framework agreement signed by major Chinese automaker SAIC Motor Corporation Limited and Shanghai Airport Authority Sunday, the two parties will promote deep-level cooperation in areas including the demonstration and promotion of new energy vehicles, travel services, automobile sales and the construction of green airports.

According to the agreement, the two parties will explore using hydrogen fuel cell vehicles as shuttle buses and vehicles for ground services and road maintenance.

The two sides will also jointly explore infrastructure construction, such as hydrogen refueling stations and charging stations.

Shanghai is one of the world's busiest aviation hubs, with the passenger volume of its two major airports totaling more than 120 million and cargo throughput exceeding 4 million tonnes last year.

So far, the SAIC Motor has started commercial operation of hydrogen fuel cell passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles in nine domestic cities. Enditem
