ANKARA -- Turkey on Saturday confirmed 1,546 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number in the country to 137,115.

Meanwhile, the deaths from the coronavirus reached 3,739 after 50 new fatalities were added in the past 24 hours, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca tweeted. (Turkey-COVID-19-New Cases)

TEHRAN -- Iran on Saturday reported 1,529 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 106,220, state TV reported.

In a daily update of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, 48 new death cases were registered overnight, bringing the total number of the deaths from COVID-19 to 6,589. (Iran-COVID-19)

BAGHDAD -- Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi on Saturday ruled out Iraq as the ground for "settling accounts" by the U.S. and its rival Iran.

RAMALLAH -- A senior Palestinian official said Saturday that a special committee has been formed by President Mahmoud Abbas to follow up on the Palestinian measures in response to the Israeli threat to annex parts of the West Bank.

Azzam al-Ahmad, member of Abbas's Fatah party Central Council and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee, told the official Palestinian radio that the committee is scheduled to meet this week to determine its next steps and submit its recommendations to the PLO Executive Committee, which is considered the highest political level in Palestine.
