BAGHDAD -- A total of two security members were killed and four others wounded in a roadside bomb attack by Islamic State (IS) militants north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, a security source said on Friday.

The attack occurred late on Thursday night when IS militants detonated a roadside bomb near an army military vehicle while it was patrolling Tarmiyah area, some 30 km north of Baghdad, Ihsan al-Dulaimi from Baghdad Operations Command told Xinhua. (Iraq-IS)

TEHRAN -- Iran on Friday reported 2,102 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 116,635.

The country also registered 48 new deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 6,902, Kianush Jahanpur, head of Public Relations and Information Center of Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education, said during his daily update. (Iran-COVID-19)

ISTANBUL -- The Turkish coast guard rescued 30 illegal immigrants off Turkey's Aegean coast, local media reported on Friday.

DOHA -- Qatar's Health Ministry on Friday announced 1,153 new infections COVID-19, increasing the total number of confirmed cases in the Gulf state to 29,425, of whom 25,865 patients are under treatment.
