BEIJING, May 16 (Xinhua) -- The following are highlights of China's local business news from the past week.

ALIBABA ONLINE TRADE SHOW

Alibaba.com launched its first global online trade show Monday, as a new channel for traditional trade businesses to reach customers at a time when many exhibitions have been canceled amid the COVID-19 epidemic.

The trade show is expected to last till May 24 and attract about 200,000 wholesalers each day to visit, inquire and place orders.

DISNEYLAND REOPENING

The Shanghai Disneyland theme park reopened to visitors with controlled capacity on Monday, after the COVID-19 epidemic in China became more subdued. This is the first Disneyland theme park in the world that has reopened since the outbreak of the COVID-19.

The Shanghai Disney Resort announced its temporary closure in late January in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. It reopened the Disneytown, Wishing Star Park and Shanghai Disneyland Hotel in early March.

BAOSTEEL RMB SETTLEMENT

Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., known as Baosteel, said it has recently made its first yuan-denominated iron ore purchase worth over 100 million yuan (about 14.1 million U.S. dollars) with Australian mining giant Rio Tinto supported by blockchain technology.

With the latest transaction, the major Chinese steel giant has realized cross-border Renminbi settlements in the iron ore trade with all of the world's three largest iron ore producers.

CHINAJOY

ChinaJoy, Asia's biggest game event held annually in Shanghai, will start on July 31 as scheduled, its organizing committee announced. The four-day exhibition will be held both online and offline and all the preparation work is going smoothly.

TOYOTA ELECTRIC CAR

FAW Toyota's first pure electric car for mass production has rolled off the production line in a factory in north China's Tianjin Municipality, according to Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. It is the first pure electric car in China under the Toyota brand. Enditem
