BEIJING, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Amid further containment of COVID-19, China is powering ahead in returning to work and resuming business and production. The following are the latest facts and figures:

-- The number of China's single-day civil aviation flights has topped 10,000 for the first time since February 1, said China's civil aviation regulator.

On Friday, the country's civil aviation flights reached 10,262, recovering to 60 percent of the level before the COVID-19 epidemic, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

-- China's motorcycle market has "basically recovered" as the COVID-19 epidemic wanes, according to the motorcycle chapter of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

Motorcycle output rose 10.38 percent month on month to 1.54 million units in April. The figure also represented a 10.38-percent year-on-year growth, data showed.

Sales jumped 21.54 percent from March and were 17.89 percent higher than April last year.

-- China had completed 46.96 percent of the annual afforestation target during the January-April period, with a total of 47.4 million mu (about 3.16 million hectares) of trees planted by the end of April despite the COVID-19 epidemic, according to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration (NFGA).

Provinces including Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian and Henan had already fulfilled their year-round afforestation tasks, while places such as Hebei, Anhui and Guangdong had completed over 50 percent of the annual afforestation tasks, the NFGA said.

-- First, second and third-graders of elementary schools in Shanghai will return to school from June 2 as the epidemic wanes, and the city's public kindergartens will also reopen on the same day, local authorities said Saturday.

The junior students can choose to continue their online education at home if necessary, said the municipal education commission. The online course will last till the end of this semester.

From June 2, private kindergartens in Shanghai can decide their own time to resume classes after getting approval from the district education administrations. Enditem
