HAIKOU, May 21 (Xinhua) -- China's island province Hainan will organize the national teqball team to participate in this year's Asian Beach Games, local sports authorities said.

Teqball, a mixture of football and table tennis, is set to make debut in the Asian Beach Games slated for November 28-December 6 in Sanya, and feature three disciplines - men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles.

The men's team will be composed of Hainan college football players while high school football players will be selected to form the women's side, the Hainan provincial sports bureau said.

Teqball is played on a curved table tennis-style table where players try to volley the soccer ball back and forth. It is growing as a sport as much as a recreational activity, with more than 50 national federations already formed. Enditem
