XI'AN, May 22 (Xinhua) -- A freight transport service was launched Friday between Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, and Nepali capital Kathmandu.

A train carrying cargo including PVC pipes, grouting pipes, clothes, shoes and printers left Xi'an Friday for Xigaze in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, where the cargo will be transferred onto trucks and delivered to Kathmandu, according to the China Railway Xi'an Group Co., Ltd.

The train is the first on the combined road-rail cargo transport service from Shaanxi to South Asia, which is organized and operated by the group and China Railway Container Transport Corp. Ltd.

It will take eight days for the cargo to arrive at Kathmandu.
