HOHHOT, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Construction on an ultra-large monomer crystalline graphite ore project began in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Saturday.

With a total investment of 4.5 billion yuan (630 million U.S. dollars), the project in Urad Middle Banner in the city of Bayannur is expected to achieve an annual production capacity of 100,000 tonnes of graphite, negative electrode materials and graphene high-end materials after completion.

According to Yan Yongchun, head of Urad Middle Banner, the project will generate an annual output value of 17 billion yuan and create more than 10,000 jobs.

The project sits near one of China's most important mines, which boasts a reserve of graphite ore resources of 17.8 million tonnes. Enditem
