TIANJIN, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Hebeitun Township in north China's Tianjin has recently gone viral on online livestreaming platforms and attracted more investors and tourists from across the country.

As a traditional town that mainly develops agriculture and animal husbandry, Hebeitun was rarely known by out-of-towners. Its recent exposure on social media outlets is all because of the construction of Aiyi Road.

Stretching around 20 km, Aiyi Road, a circular road which has now entered the closing phase of construction, is expected to connect a dozen villages scattered in the town.

Lidarenzhuang Village lies at the northernmost end of the ring, a remote village that suffered from poor transportation and poverty.

"There was no road linking the village to the outside, so trucks could not drive to the village in the past. No buyers were willing to buy our vegetables when the harvest season came. I had to ride a tricycle to sell the crops outside the village," said Zhang Guangtai, a 66-year-old farmer in Lidarenzhuang Village.

Last year, Tianjin launched the construction of Aiyi Road in Hebeitun Township to improve the rural traffic conditions and push ahead with the rural revitalization.

Since the section in Lidarenzhuang Village opened, the village obtains more opportunities.

In 2019, the village was selected to develop rural tourism. With the financial support of local government and private enterprises, various forms of cultural tourism projects have taken root and grown vigorously here, changing the fate of the village.

Residents uploaded photos and short videos of the beautiful scenery of the village, clean and cozy homestays and well-equipped infrastructure to livestreaming platforms, drawing an increasing number of outside investors and tourists.

Those facilities will be put into operation in succession this year.

Villager Bo Tingguo, 64, said he saw the village became busy and bustling since the road provided access.

The road also connects the village to several agricultural industrial parks, allowing local agricultural products to be transported outside and visitors to take part in farm-related leisure activities.

"Local farmers can make more money from the development of rural tourism," said Zhang Boxiang, deputy head of Hebeitun Township, adding that the road would lead to significant changes in the town.

In Tianjin, more and more villages have sped up their economic development with the help of rural road projects. Enditem
