1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close lower Monday

BEIJING, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.02 percent, at 2,890.03 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.53 percent lower at 11,192.27 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two major indices was 759.51 billion yuan (about 107.12 billion U.S. dollars), expanding from 699.24 billion yuan on the previous trading day.

Losers outnumbered gainers by 983 to 471 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,244 to 887 in Shenzhen.

Companies related to cloud gaming and biotech vaccines led the gains, while shares in airport shipping and hotel catering sectors suffered losses.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.58 percent to close at 2,219.55 points Monday. Enditem
