BEIJING, June 19 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

VIRUS ISOLATION

The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Thursday said it has successfully isolated and cultured the novel coronavirus from the recent clusters of COVID-19 infections in Beijing.

On June 11 and 13, the National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention under the CDC, received two batches of respiratory tract samples, collected from the COVID-19 cases related to Beijing's Xinfadi wholesale farm produce market. On Monday, cytopathy was seen in the cells inoculated with the virus, and results of nucleic acid tests showed rapid amplification of the virus, which signified the success of the isolated culture of the virus, according to the CDC.

CHINA-ITALY VIDEO CONFERENCE ON COVID-19 CONTROL

Experts from northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Italy held a video conference Wednesday on COVID-19 prevention and control, with local medics in Ningxia sharing China's experience and anti-epidemic measures with their Italian counterparts.

The conference brought together experts from the general hospital of Ningxia Medical University and ASL Roma 1, a local health authority in the Italian capital city.

SOYBEAN GENOME MAP

Chinese researchers have constructed a high-quality genome map of diverse soybean varieties, which could help improve soybean breeding and cultivation.

They carried out in-depth resequencing and structural analysis on 2,898 soybean accessions from major soybean-producing countries in the world, and carefully selected 26 representative soybeans, including three wild soybeans, nine farm species and 14 modern cultivated varieties. Enditem
