GUIYANG, June 19 (Xinhua) -- China's freight delivery volume jumped 111 percent year on year during a recent online shopping promotion period, according to a report released Friday by Manbang, a leading domestic freight service platform.

From June 1 to 18, the freight volume in China rose 27.1 percent compared to the same period of last month, the report said.

Shanghai and the provinces of Zhejiang, Guangdong, Jiangsu and Shandong ranked as the top five areas for outbound goods, accounting for 64.13 percent of the country's total. Most of these places are located in the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta where e-commerce is well developed.

Meanwhile, the provinces of Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Sichuan and Shandong, which rank high in GDP, rounded out the top five areas for inbound goods, with their freight volume accounting for 36.28 percent of the country's total.

According to the report, the June 18 mid-year online shopping bonanza has grown on par with the "Double 11" shopping festival, and is a highly anticipated event. Amid the COVID-19 epidemic, the mid-year promotion has become "a mirror of consumer confidence and economic recovery," the report said.

Manbang Group is headquartered in Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province. The group has over 9 million users and covers more than 300 cities across the country. Enditem
