China's non-ferrous metal output grows 2.7 pct in Jan-May

BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- China's production of 10 major non-ferrous metals surged 2.7 percent year on year to 24.13 million tonnes in the first five months of 2020, official data showed.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the pace of growth accelerated slightly from a rise of 2.6 percent registered in the January-April period.
The 10 major non-ferrous metals are copper, aluminum, lead, zinc, nickel, tin, antimony, mercury, magnesium and titanium.
Production of electrolytic aluminum, which accounts for nearly two-thirds of the total output, registered a 2.1 percent increase from the previous year to 14.81 million tonnes in the first five months of this year.
In May alone, the combined output of the 10 metals reached 4.98 million tonnes, up 4.1 percent from a year earlier. Enditem
