BEIJING, June 22 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

COVID-19 VACCINE

An inactivated COVID-19 vaccine candidate developed by the Institute of Medical Biology under the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences has entered phase-2 clinical trials in China.

The phase-2 trials, which further evaluate the immunogenicity and safety of the vaccine in humans, are conducted in the southwestern province of Yunnan.

DEEP-SEA MANNED SUBMERSIBLE

China has named its new deep-sea manned submersible "Fendouzhe," which means "striver" in Chinese.

An expert panel chose the name from a shortlist of 10 nominees, which were voted by nearly 100,000 web users during an online campaign launched by state broadcaster China Media Group.

TRAINER AIRCRAFT

China's domestically-developed AG100 trainer aircraft made its maiden flight successfully, announced Aviation Industry Corporation of China.

The AG100, which is a new generation trainer aircraft, conducted its maiden flight at the Moganshan airport in Deqing County, east China's Zhejiang Province. Enditem
