YINCHUAN, June 24 (Xinhua) -- A batch of medical supplies donated to Mauritania by the government of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region set off from the region's capital of Yinchuan on Wednesday.

The supplies consisted of 30,000 disposable medical masks, which will be transferred from Beijing before reaching Mauritania, to help with the fight against COVID-19 in Mauritania.

So far, Ningxia has donated anti-pandemic supplies to 10 countries, including the Republic of Korea, Iran, Pakistan, Italy, Japan, Romania, Russia, Morocco, Colombia and Mauritania.

China and Mauritania have strengthened bilateral cooperation in various fields in recent years, including economy, agriculture, science and technology, education and health. In 2013, a Ningxia-based company built an animal husbandry technology demonstration center in Mauritania, while in 2015, another Ningxia firm participated in the construction of a China-Mauritania marine industrial park project.
