BEIJING, June 25 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

INACTIVATED COVID-19 VACCINE

China's inactivated COVID-19 vaccine candidate has started its phase-3 clinical trial globally in the United Arab Emirates, according to the vaccine developer China National Biotec Group.

The clinical trial was officially initiated after a cooperation agreement was signed Tuesday, during a videoconference jointly held in Beijing, Wuhan and Abu Dhabi, the company said, adding that it is the first time that China's self-developed vaccine has carried out phase-3 clinical research internationally.

COVID-19 VACCINE CANDIDATE

Chinese authorities have approved a new COVID-19 vaccine candidate for human trials.

Researchers will start phase-1 clinical trials in hospitals in Chongqing and Beijing, to determine whether the recombinant protein vaccine is safe for use on humans.

TRACKING SHIP

China's space-tracking ship, Yuanwang-6, has completed maritime monitoring for the last satellite launch of the country's BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) in the Pacific Ocean on Tuesday.

About 20 minutes after the liftoff, Yuanwang-6 detected and locked its target, and carried out the monitoring during the process. The whole process lasted for nearly 600 seconds.

It was the 14th time the vessel carried out the maritime monitoring mission for the BDS satellites. Enditem
