BEIJING, June 30 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

LAKE EVAPORATION

Chinese researchers have estimated that the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau witnessed about 51.7 billion tonnes of lake water evaporation each year, according to the website of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The total evaporated water approximately amounted to 29.4 billion tonnes each year in the 75 studied lakes, according to the research article published in the journal Science Advances.

RABIES VACCINE

A novel rabies vaccine for humans shows promise in preclinical testing, according to a new study published in the journal EBioMedicine.

This live, attenuated vaccine candidate was developed and tested by scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology under the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Wuhan-based Huazhong Agricultural University.

MANNED SUBMERSIBLE MOTHER SHIP

Tansuo-2, the mother ship for China's manned submersible that is capable of diving to depths of 10,000 meters, has returned to Sanya in south China's Hainan Province after an 18-month renovation project.

The ship, mainly painted white and green, left from Fuzhou Port in the eastern province of Fujian Thursday before arriving in Sanya Sunday afternoon. Enditem
