BEIJING, June 30 (Xinhua) -- A national campaign will be launched by local traffic management departments to improve the transport safety of hazardous chemicals, according to the traffic management authority.

The six-month campaign, scheduled from July 1 to Dec. 31, aims to strictly prevent the occurrence of accidents with mass casualties, involving hazardous chemicals transport vehicles, said the traffic management bureau under the Ministry of Public Security on Tuesday.

Traffic violations of hazardous chemicals transport vehicles, including speeding, fatigue driving, and illegal parking, are targeted in the campaign, according to the bureau.

It also called on local traffic management departments to fully implement specific measures in certificates issuance, road inspection, and four other aspects, as well as strengthen traffic control at key areas and increase the frequency of inspections.

The bureau also called on the public to timely report serious traffic violations of hazardous chemicals transport vehicles to traffic management departments. Enditem
