1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close higher Wednesday

BEIJING, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Major Chinese stock indices ended higher Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.38 percent to close at 3,025.98 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.01 percent higher at 12,112.97 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 907.27 billion yuan (about 128.31 billion U.S. dollars), rising from 746.64 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Gainers outnumbered losers by 913 to 508 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,128 to 989 in Shenzhen.

Real estate, liquor and cement stocks led the gains, with shares of Greenland Holdings Corporation Limited surging by the daily limit of 10 percent to 6.8 yuan per share.

Luzhou Laojiao Corporation Limited saw its share price rise by the daily 10-percent limit to 100.23 yuan a share.

Bucking the upward trend, shares of medical device service and cloud game companies led the losses.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.76 percent to close at 2,419.63 points Wednesday. Enditem
